Nandita Das is an internationally acclaimed actor and filmmaker whose career spans more than three decades across cinema, theatre, and social engagement. As an actor, she is celebrated for powerful performances in films such as Fire, Earth, Bawandar, and Before the Rains, which have earned her recognition at festivals around the world. As a director, her films Firaaq and Manto were widely acclaimed for their bold storytelling and social relevance. A graduate of the Yale World Fellows Program, she has served on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival and is deeply involved in initiatives around gender equality, social justice, and children’s rights. Honored with the French Government’s Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Nandita continues to use her art as a means of dialogue, compassion, and change.
