Bhawana Somaaya is a veteran film critic, author, and columnist with over four decades of experience chronicling Indian cinema. Beginning her career as a journalist in the late 1970s, she went on to edit leading film magazines and has since written extensively on Bollywood’s evolution, both as an industry and a cultural phenomenon. She has authored more than a dozen books, including biographies like Amitabh Bachchan: The Legend and Hema Malini: The Authorized Biography, as well as critical works such as Cinema: Images & Issues. Known for her sharp insight and deep archival knowledge, Bhawana continues to contribute columns to leading publications and is a regular voice on radio and television as a commentator on cinema and society. Her work remains a vital bridge between film history, criticism, and contemporary cultural discourse.
